BiographyMarlborough- Sr. Josephine Marie Capodilupo died Friday May 28, 2010 at Marlborough Hospital. She was 87 years of age and had been a Sister of the Good Shepherd for 66 years. Sr. Josephine was born in Avellino, Italy the daughter of Anthony and Emmanuella (Iannella) Capodilupo. She attended St. Joseph’s School in Boston and after graduation from St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge with a diploma in business skills in 1944, she entered the Good Shepherd Novitiate in Peekskill, NY, to begin her long career in the Good Shepherd mission to teenage girls with problems. After professing her first vows in 1947, she was assigned as dietician and director of vocational training in the kitchen, as well as supervising staff in food service, which served the residential school for 100 girls, in addition to the two convents and novitiate. Many of the sisters whose visitors came from Boston can attest to the splendid meals that she served to their families. Sr. Josephine’s skills were in demand in other Good Shepherd homes, and she was missioned to Brooklyn, New York; in 1961 was assigned to Wickatunk, New Jersey, where her skills as a supervisor were experienced anew by both the staff and the girls. Sr. Josephine celebrated her 65th Jubilee in 2009 with her religious community at Good Shepherd Center, Marlborough, MA , to which she was missioned in 1977. She is survived by many devoted nephews and nieces, grand nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her sister, Sr. Mary Emmanuel Capodilupo, also a Good Shepherd sister and her siblings Jerry, Christopher, Silvano, Philomena, Lena and Lucy.
